Legendary New York-bred singer-songwriter Billy Joel has toured only sporadically in recent years, but fans have plenty of opportunities to score tickets to see him in concert going forward -- if they're willing to head out to New York's Madison Square Garden. Joel signed an open-ended deal with MSG that will have him playing a concert at the venue once per month for as long as there's demand. And demand has never been a problem for Joel at he historic New York venue; he played his first show there in 1978, and had logged 46 concerts at the arena by 2013.Ā 
New York isn't alone in its love for the singer. Joel has long been established as one of the top-grossing touring artists in the U.S., and has sold more than 150 million records over the course his four-decade career. After recording a long string of hits including "Piano Man," "New York State of Mind," "Just the Way You Are," "You May Be Right," "Pressure," "Uptown Girl," "We Didn't Start the Fire," and Ā "The River of Dreams," Joel decided that he was done writing pop and rock songs. It's a decision he's stuck with; it's been more than 20 years since he's recorded a new pop or rock album. He's composed new classical material instead, while continuing to play songs from his catalog in concert.

    Amazing music and lyrics, sold out every concert

    Classic music, always plays piano and sings with a smile, and everyone can dance or sing along. Full orchestral style instrumental band. Some of the songs have spectacular movie screen special effects. Wish they did intermission song requests. Itā€™s very much like a broadway show and could include a dinner venue and the holiday concerts that are three hours long with full hit song play list is platinum. There is not one song sung that is not a platinum hit, and the hits kept coming all night long, the way it should be done.

    been going to his shows for 30 years so probably biased but he continues to deliver. heard some oldies of his that hadn't heard the last couple shows i had been to. oldies but goodies. he played for 2 1/2 hours, pretty good for a 75 year old. even got the pipes to work for Innocent Man. have never been let down at one of his shows. only regret is his age prevents him from doing a 3 1/2 show and playing entire catalog. thanks Billy

    Billy Joel at MSG has been a goal of mine for 30 years. We travelled from Sydney especially to see this show and it exceeded expectations. Would do it again in a heartbeat šŸ™

    A super playful night

    Billy was having SOOO much fun! Teasing other songs, having his backup singers/musicians lead songs (they can SING) and enjoying his 75th birthday with us! It was Billy and 20,000 friends singing along! Sat in Section 222, row 16. PERFECT view of the large screen and the stage. It was like a horizontal split screen!!
